THE COURTYARD DECK
An old rotting deck and failing retaining walls created the opportunity to rethink and expand the homeowners’ use of their entry courtyard.
A concrete wall carves out new usable space, and built-in seating creates a comfortable place for dining beneath the old cherry blossom tree and beside the boulder fountain. The deck’s new railing better reflects the home’s Mid-Century Modern architecture, and the trellis panels provide a bit of privacy from the neighbors.
Incorporating clean lines throughout, the small space is made to feel larger while remaining cozy and inviting.
