MID-CENTURY MAKEOVER

The homeowners love to dine and entertain outdoors, however, their existing patio’s small size wasn’t really letting them do that. Additionally, its brick finish clashed with their visual tastes. The largely unused lawn space was repurposed to create a Mid-Century Modern inspired landscape that allows them to host comfortably, day or night. Five foot poured-in-place concrete pads, aligned with the rear fence’s angle, and with Dymondia in their joints, lead you to the patio areas. The first is a lounge space with comfortable seating around a gas fire pit. The second is the dining patio and adjacent outdoor kitchen. The stained Redwood pergola casts shade, provides privacy from the rear neighbor, and serves as a structure for the evening lighting. With these new areas pulled back and away from the house, the homeowners now have a more generous outdoor space that allows for multiple uses, and also provides a new visual perspective of their yard.
